San Lorenzo Parish held Family T.I.E.S camp

Seven families, representing the GKKs of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish (SLRP), Talomo, Davao City participated in the first-ever parish sponsored Family T.I.E.S Camp in partnership with the Couples for Christ (CFC) on June 1-2, 2013 at Camp Corazon, Toril, Davao City.

As directed by Fr. Roger “Jing” Duhaylungsod, the  CFC facilitated the conduct of camp using the Family T.I.E.S. (Together In Every Situation) Camp module. The camp aims to strengthen family relationships; to provide a venue for the family to bond, have fun and work together through various activities; and to increase awareness of the different family situations that they undergo.

The SLRP GKKs that send family campers were: San Roque (Castigador Family); San Jose (Crame Family); San Ignacio de Loyola (Naad Family); Sto. Niño (Turtal Family); BirhensaRegla (Bibal Family); Immaculate Conception (Mejias Family) and Sta. Cruz (Coquia Family). And just like real camping, the seven families pitched their tents where they slept overnight and made their family flag where all members of the family shared their artistic side. The 2-days activities include talks on “We are Family” and “Together in Every Situation”, amazing race, candle dance, trust walk and family dialogue. All activities are geared for promotion of oneness of the family and most of all to put God, through prayers and actions, at the center of the family.

At the second day, which was also Feast of the Corpus Christi, Fr. Marlon Naqua celebrated the Holy Mass at Camp Corazon attended by the family campers and members of the CFC community.

In the closing ceremony of the camp,  certificates were awarded recognizing the positive values and achievements of the family campers: Most Vibrant, Most Organized, Most United, Best Faith Defender, Best in Flag Design, Best Chant, The fathers of the seven families were one in expressing their gratefulness to their respective GKKs for choosing them to participate in the camp, where they learned a lot on how to strengthen their families amidst challenges that they may face; and that they had great fun and family bonding. The family campers also treasure the chance to know closely other members of their parish.
