Happy Easter

Hallelujah!  Death is vanquished!  Christ is risen!  The gates of heaven are open!  The disciples, now, are beginning to understand and believe what the Lord had been telling them during His short but eventful ministry.  Why do we believe His disciples’ proclamation?  First, they saw Him as the scriptures are filled with accounts of the resurrected Christ appearing to them.  Second, their lives changed as a result of this tremendous encounter of the resurrected Christ.  Finally, they were willing to die with conviction that Christ is risen.

The resurrection scenes are filled with love and mercy.  The Lord never denounced their cowardice, ignorance, and weak faith when He was in His direst moments, but apparently, He hurriedly continued their formation, even giving them authority on His behalf in running His Church.  Again, out of love promised them the Holy Spirit.  Indeed, He is true and faithful to His covenants.  The family bond between God and man has been sealed with His blood.

As for us, our access to forgiveness, grace, and love is through the Sacraments.  Just as the Lord buckled up for work after His resurrection, we too must blaze a trail in our fleeting lives.  Time should not be wasted.  Easter must always inspire us as it did the saints for ages.  The path is clear.  We have to rally ourselves to know, love, and serve the Lord till our last breath.  There is so much work to do.

Let us turn to our Blessed Mother, the Mother of the Church to help keep our focus to her Son who lives forever and ever.
