MSPC XV set in Zamboanga City

With the Vision and Mission of becoming a genuine community of Disciples of Christ and a Church of the Poor, the Mindanao-Sulu Pastoral Conference (MSPC) XV is slated in Zamboanga City—the first diocese in Mindanao.

Reflecting on the theme: “MSPC XV: Celebrating the Giftedness of the Laity in the Church,” participants from different parts of Mindanao will converge at the Centro Pastoral in Camins Avenue, Zamboanga City namely: a. To deepen our understanding on the role and life of the Laity in the Era of New Evangelization; b.To strengthen the commitment and Mission of the Laity in building up the Church; and c.To challenge the laity’s heroism in responding to the issues of peace and in mitigating the effects of climate change and migration.

Thorough concurrences/streams, input, small group sharing, plenary/open forum, participants will learn about the different issues affecting their local churches. Participants are composed of bishops, vicar generals/pastoral directors, social action directors, seminary rectors, women religious representatives, lay delegates from Family and Life Apostolate, Lay Delegates from Apostolate for Migrants, BEC leaders, lay delegates from social action, delegates from the diocesan council of the laity, and lay delegates from inter-religious dialogue.

The Archdiocese of Davao will have the following as delegates: Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles, Auxiliary Bishop of Davao George B. Rimando, Msgr. Maximo Sarno, GKK Director Fr. Pedro Lamata, GKK Lay Coordinator Vicky Anghag, PSL Coordinator Cipriano Genosas, Jr., Sr. Maris Arado, TDM and Rhoderick Hernandez from the Archdiocesan Social Action Center, Eduardo Pacana of the Archdiocesan Council on Lay Associations and Integrated Movements (ACLAIM), Roland and Tessie Acuña of the Family and Life Apostolate, and Sr. Magdalena Saavedra.

MSPC XV will happen on October 20 to 23.
It can be remembered that MSPC XIV was held in Digos City in 2010.
