Inshallah (In God’s Time)

“Part of my purpose here on earth is to be of service – to preach His Good News. That’s why I came home. Christ has brought me into a relationship with Him that changed my life in amazing ways, and so I would like to continue to serve my purpose that He has called me – to be of mission to other people.”

Dear KNOT,

I am Mr. William Ulep, 34, from Immaculate Conception Parish of Mintal. It has been two days since I arrived from a Moslem country. I was a Theology teacher before in a university here in Davao when I decided to change my career and go abroad last November 2013.

I thought that that choice of mine could enhance further my faith. However, God has offered me a life that was overflowing with hope and divine help when I encountered lots of life-changing moments there. I could say that it was an “active rebellion” or sometimes “simply passive indifference” that kept me separated from Him, just when I needed Him the most. It was not easy staying in a Moslem country where you cannot outwardly profess your faith in Christ.

There came a point in my life that I told myself, “Maybe the Moslems are right when they questioned the kind of a God who suffered and died on the cross; a God has no face. You cannot see God and it is a blasphemy to put an image of God in a form of a man.” These arguments and many others had tested my faith in Christ before coming home in the Philippines.

In His great love for me, He has bridged the separation by enlightening me and brought back my faith to life again. One day, I saw online the Volunteer’s Program offered by the Davao Catholic Herald. The exciting photos of young volunteers who are happy sharing their life experiences with Christ made me think that there is more to life and you can only find that life in Christ. I wasn’t happy anymore. I used to proclaim the Word of God before, but months ago, I felt so empty.

Today, I am thankful that I have gone to the office and expressed my willingness to volunteer. In God’s time, everything falls into places. Inshallah!

If you are facing your own life changing event today, whether through crisis or choice, invite Christ to walk with you through each day and to be your strength and your guide by sincerely praying this prayer.
It’s the best choice you will ever make.

“Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to You today and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my rebellious and independent ways and for promising me eternal life. Take control of my life and guide me through the changes I face today. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.”
Thank you Davao Catholic Herald!

Thank you William. Welcome to Herald family!
