Sending children, keeping faith

Flores de Mayo cartoonOur Catechists of Pangulo sa Panudlo (PSP) in our Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) will once again be busy preparing for lessons for the Flores de Mayo. As teachers of the faith, they make our little children excited in leading the rosary, offering flowers and fruits, bringing one of the letters of AVE MARIA, and the like. Missing this activity is like missing half of one’s childhood days.

We call on the support of our parents to send their children for this daily activity this month of May. No computer game can equal the value of these classes for free, no visit to the mall can satisfy the more important things a child should have, no interaction with other children can make a child to become wholesome. As first devotions to Mama Mary is born out of Flores de Mayo, sending our children to this daily session means keeping our faith.

“While many today attack our devotion to her, the Church of the Philippines, as a pueblo amante de Maria—a people in love with Mary—will always continue to seek her intercession and learn from her way of life what we need to be as a community of disciples.” (PCP II, 153)
