San Isidro Labrador Parish, Catalunan Grande Parish Priest Fr. Joel C. Caasi laud the 15th Santacruzan at the Skyline Village Gym this month for being simple and dignified as the Church requires it to be. The event was able to raise funds to help build the parish pastoral and formation building.

“It truly has given honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the greatest model of our faith and likewise honor San Isidro. We continue with the tradition and make this our way of teaching our young people the roots of our Faith and on keeping our Faith,” Fr. Joca said.

Hermana Mayor Leonora P. Gutierrez led the event and the parochial fiesta along with the Parish Pastoral Team.

The Sagala of the Santacruzan are representatives from GKKs: Anita Librea (Reyna Elena from Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal GKK); Hilda Mendones (Reyna Emperatriz from Mother of Perpetual Help GKK); and Thelma Avelino (Reyna de las Flores from St. Andrew GKK).

“Santacruzan shall remain a traditional activity for Filipinos, should be preserved, respected, promoted for what it is really meant to be: an expression of respect to and veneration of the Cross through which we were all saved,” Fr. Joca ended.

GKK leaders and members were awed by the beauty and elegance of the sagalas, who also joined  praying through the celebration of the Mass, to the procession until the offering of flowers, fruits and vegetables to Mama Mary and San Isidro.

The Santacruzan was added with entertainment and a fellowship dinner prepared by the Hermana Mayor. It also has institutionalized the annual Santacruzan, and so is the League of Hermana Mayores, Delia M. Ladao as President. Festive as it may be it but must be done with sanctity.
