Amazing Vietnam Catholics Part 2

“Kini ang mura’g data: Ang Archdiocese of Saigon comparison sa Archdiocese of Davao has 200 parishes. Unya kita 37 lang; 300 Diocesan clergy; 300, kita 100 lang. And then they have also 350 mga religious…So, kung pari lang ang hisgutan, ang ilang workforce, is mga 650. I’m sure there are more Catholics in Davao compared to Catholics in Saigon.

Ang akong punto na gishare diri is data would show na ingon nila, Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing countries (wa’y labot ang Philippines). Ingon nila phenomenal pud ang Catholic growth sa South Korea. But ingon nila, ang second is Vietnam (ilang growth).

Kini pamalandong lang. Oy, after 10 years, maapsan naman siguro ta sa Davao. It’s a joy to see that in Vietnam, very friendly people, Asian kaayo, great food, wa ju’y obese. Mga slim sila tungod sa food. Tapos puros vegetables. Of course, the influence of the west, mga fatty foods, naa pud na didto but siguro up to now, makita nimo na ilang body form, mainly pa siguro, strong pa ilang native diet. Lami raba kaayo. Maybe that’s my simple analysis. Wa jud ko kita’g maski isa ka tambok. I think we should learn and say “Ngano man na mura’g lig-on sila?”

It is maybe because naa pa ang kalisod sa kinabuhi…nindot man na makakaon ta ug maayo, pero I hope that we would be aware na not everything what apparently good sa atong palibot, makaayo sa ato-a, to the faith. Take our faith seriously.

Ang Vietnam grabe ang ilang pagmahal sa simbahan, ang ilang faith. Unya murag very strong pud ang ilang family life kay kuyog man ang mga bata sa misa. And then ang akong impression pud, mura’g balos lang. In terms sa faith, they look up to us. Siguro naa sila’y memory na we are good to the Vietnamese ‘tong refugees sa Bataan, kadto bitaw mga refugees sa history, good ta para sa ilaha. That’s my impression.”
