Holy Trinity The Most Holy Trinity

Trinity: Distinct yet related

Holy TrinityThe Trinity, one God in three persons, is central to Christian faith. Despite the difficulty to fully grasp this mystery, we believe that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit “are distinct from one another in their relations of origin: It is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds” (CCC 254).

Our faith in the Trinity must teach us that it is only when we appreciate our different characters and capacities that harmonious relationships can work. Without allowing the best to come out in others—as individuals in the family, members in the GKK, co-employees in a company, constituents in the country—relationships are prone to fail.

Today, we need to go back to the reality that we are distinct from each other and yet related to one another. This relationship must become the force to surpass our personal agenda for the common good. We should not allow political parties, religious affiliations, ethnic origins and societal status separate us from one another.

“But even now we are called to be a dwelling for the Most Holy Trinity: if a man loves me…we will come to him and make our home with him.” (CCC 260) Let the Holy Trinity dwell in us!
