Assumption of Mary

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Assumption of MaryThe most Blessed Virgin Mary, “preserved from all stain of original sin, when Her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen of all things. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in Her Son’s Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians” (CCC 966).

Her body, as holy and sinless as Her soul, did not suffer corruption. Mother Mary, human like us, has shown us that holiness is possible and that heaven awaits all. Conformed to Jesus’ most holy will, her example invites us to seek to grow in humble docility to God.

Mother Mary has never denied anyone her help and intercession. With the Queen of heaven, also our Mother, as our Model, we too can bow to God’s holy will, and hope to take our rightful place after our own victorious resurrection.
