Pray the Rosary

Rosary Editorial“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.”

We can pray with and to Mary (CCC 2679). She is a powerful intercessor. The Wedding of Cana shows that through her intercession Jesus performed his first miracle. St John Paul II, when he declared 2012 as the Year of the Rosary said that “At times when Christianity itself seemed under threat, its deliverance was attributed to the power of this prayer, and our Lady was acclaimed as the one whose intercession brought salvation.“

Why pray the Rosary? According to Pope Benedict XVI “the Rosary helps to put Christ at the center, as the Virgin did, who meditated within all that was said about her Son, and also what he did and said. With Mary the heart is oriented toward the mystery of Jesus. Christ is put at the center of our life, of our time, of our city, through the contemplation and meditation of his holy mysteries of joy, light, sorrow and glory.”

Let us pray the Rosary. Pope Francis says that “Mary joins us, she fights at our side. She supports Christians in the fight against the forces of evil. Especially, through prayer, through the Rosary.”

Let us pray the Rosary with our hearts. Pope Benedict XVI says that “the Rosary, when it is prayed in an authentic way, not mechanical and superficial but profoundly, it brings, in fact, peace and reconciliation. It contains within itself the healing power of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, invoked with faith and love at the center of each ‘Hail Mary.’”

Let us pray the Rosary not only during the month of October, but every day.
