National BEC Assembly

The National BEC Assembly on November 11-14, 2015 coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the closing of Vatican II. Each diocese can send 10-15 delegates who will gather at San Fernando De Dilao Parish, Paco Catholic School Auditorium, Manila and Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay. They will share experiences in forming Basic Ecclesial Communities in creative ways.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and Cardinal Orlando Quevedo are the main speakers who will elaborate on the theme: “BECs in the Philippines: Thanksgiving for 50 Years of Vatican II’s Spirit of Renewal and Responding as a Community of Missionary Disciples to Pope Francis Call to Become a Poor Church for the Poor”. The Committee on Basic Ecclesial Communities of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines is chaired by Most Rev. George B. Rimando, D.D., auxiliary bishop of Davao.

As baptized Catholics, are we aware of BECs as a new way of being church? Do we actively get involved in our BECs? Have we partaken of the life of communion and mission among the poor church of the poor?
