Epiphany

God’s final and definitive revelation

Epiphany“After God had spoken many times and in various ways through the prophets, in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son” (Heb. 1:1-2) (DV, 4).

Today, in the life-size Belen in St. Peter’s Square is usually portrayed the three-colored men – black representing Africa, white for Europeans and Americans, and brown as the Asians. They are, according to the Gospel of Matthew, the magi, who may represent all of humanity to whom God manifests Himself as the God of love and salvation.

No race or color can escape from God’s manifestation. The Incarnation or the Son of God-made-man is God’s final and definitive revelation. In Christ, God has spoken everything He wants to tell us. We await no new public revelation before His return in glory.

Let the Solemnity of the Epiphany increase our insight of God’s manifestation. Through the signs of the times, our faith in God’s providence must become stronger. We pray that our relationship with Him may not only grow within the confines of our pious practices but also as we lead ourselves in our homes, offices, workplaces and in the streets.

May the light of Christ guide us always!
