Alay Kapwa

helping handsIn the Philippines, every Palm Sunday is Alay Kapwa Sunday. It is one concrete way of living the spirit of Lent. Everyone is exhorted to do a little sacrifice for the benefit of the needy.

In the Archdiocese of Davao, the Archdiocesan Social Action Center (ASAC) headed by Fr. Leonardo Dublan, Director, gives each one opportunity to offer oneself for others. Through the family visits among the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK), members are able to spare time for one another. Cluster leaders and other GKK officers and members bond together to pray, reflect and offer concrete actions for the least brothers and sisters of ours.

No matter how little we contribute for Alay Kapwa, we partake of the mission of the Church to touch others and strengthen them in the faith. Visiting the family members in the GKK makes each one feel we belong and journey together as one church.

Indeed, “walang sinuman ang nabubuhay para sa sarili lamang. Tayong lahat ay may pananagutan sa isa’t isa.”
