Jesus tomb Resurrection easter sunday

Easter Message of Abp. Valles

Jesus tomb Resurrection“In every human situation, marked by frailty, sin and death, the Good News is no mere matter of words, but a testimony to unconditional and faithful love… Love is more powerful, love gives life, love makes hope blossom in the wilderness.” (Easter ‘Urbi et Orbi’ Message of Pope Francis; cf. www.news.va/en/news/easter-urbi-et-orbi-message-of-pope-francis)

As your Archbishop of Davao, may I re-echo these words of our beloved Pope Francis. This season of Easter becomes more meaningful when we open and extend our hands to our needy brothers and sisters. Celebrating Easter in this Year of Mercy calls us to do the works of mercy.

Let us concretely show compassion by our acts of generosity to the fire victims of San Pedro Cathedral Parish; let us be thoughtful and concerned about our Lumad brothers and sisters; let us be sincere and follow our conscience in casting our votes this coming local and national elections; let us learn to love the environment by throwing our garbage in the proper place; let us work together to strengthen our GKKs and lay movements.

The power of God’s unconditional love is manifested in our collaboration as one local church of Davao to care for others. Giving life and hope to others is a characteristic of those who are touched by the new life our Lord Jesus brings in His resurrection.

Happy Easter to one and all!

+ROMULO G. VALLES, D.D.
Archbishop of Davao
