Resurrection editorial easter sunday

Leave ourselves, encounter others

Resurrection editorialNo other feast in the Church can surpass the value and meaning of Easter. It impels us, believers of Christ, to continue the life-giving mission of Jesus, the risen Lord.

Pope Francis says: “If Christ were not raised, Christianity would lose its very meaning; the whole mission of the Church would lose its impulse, for this is the point from which it first set out and continues to set out ever anew… It is about leaving ourselves behind and encountering others, being close to those crushed by life’s troubles, sharing with the needy, standing at the side of the sick, elderly and the outcast.”

If we want Easter to truly be lived, attend a troubled GKK member or co-worker in your office, a needy neighbor, a sick and elderly relative, and show him care and compassion. They may be just one among those we brush shoulders with everyday. Let us leave of our pride, unforgiveness, envy, and self-centeredness. Let us allow God to make others encounter the compassionate and risen Christ through our selflessness.

Happy Easter to all!
