UP Mindanao students present the list of national candidates to be posted in the campus and other sites, as part of UP sa Halalan 2016 voter education.

UP sa Halalan 2016, the series of public service projects for voter education, is the focus in April in UP Mindanao, Mintal, Davao City. On April 7 is “Ina, Kapatid, Anak”, a forum on political dynasties from Pulos student organization. On April 13, 3pm, is the first “Panagtigom: A Forum for Presidential and other Candidates” featuring the representative of Vice President Jejomar Binay, Atty. Jay Layug. On April 24 is the public live stream of the 3rd Presidential Debate to be provided by SPARCS computer science students. On April 25-27 is the “Pulso ng UPMin” automated mock-elections from the University Student Council, Omega Alpha, and other student organizations. On May 5 is the visit by presidential candidate Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago to the second “Panagtigom” Forum. All presidential candidates were invited to the “Panagtigom” in keeping with the “open door” policy of UP Mindanao towards all candidates, parties, and voters.

Other Halalan events are fun and issue-oriented such as: “What is Neo-liberalism” lecture from Dugong Anthro; “Exhibition Debate on Environmental Issues” from Debate Society; “Anti-discrimination Forum” from Pulos and Mentefuwaley; “Freedom of Information Act Forum” and “Students Rights and Welfare (STRAW) Bill Forum” from Pulos; “Trivia Night on Social Issues” from Alpha Phi Omega; “Open Notes” comments billboard from CSM student council; and the “Essay-writing contest on Lumad Issues” from Betans.
