MAYOR DUTERTE

The Church and the New Administration

MAYOR DUTERTEThe intercessions in all masses from June 21 to June 29 in the whole nation had this response of the faithful: “God, bless and protect the Philippines.”

We were happy that God answered our prayers that we should have an honest and peaceful election. We are honored that the second Visayan President (the first was Carlos P. Garcia, (1957-1961)) and the first Mindanaoan President comes from the Archdiocese of Davao.

The Lord created the church and all nations to carry out his plans for the world. There is no conflict between the Church and the state when it comes to serving the people. They may differ in their approach in solving problems but both are doing their very best to do everything for the good of the 100 million Filipinos.

During the May 1 program for the Golden Jubilee of Monsignor Edgar Rodriguez, a speaker said: 1. You can do the impossible. It is the miracles that takes time to be done; 2. Worry about the things you can change. Do not worry about the things you cannot change; 3. Quoting Philosopher George Santayana “those who forget the lessons of the past will repeat the same mistakes” and 4. Trust in God.

Mr. President, the church will cooperate with you in serving the people. Dili sayon ang pagsunod kang Kristo. Daghang tunok ang dalan nga agi-an mo. Bug-at ang krus nga pagapas-anon mo. We pray that during your term, the Almighty will bless, guide and protect you. Congratulations! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
