The Presidential Commission Office headed by Secretary Andanar held a press conference at the Ateneo de Davao University last August 18. The said presscon was divided into two parts such as the video documentary presentation of the first 50 days as president of His Excellency Rodrigo Duterte. The AVP was a compiled report of the accomplishments and future plans of all the department heads emphasizing on the the current administration’s battle cry “Malasakit, Tunay na Pagbabago, Tinud-anay ang Kausaban.” The President said that change must start within as well as courage and the will to make it happen.

“Together let shoulder to shoulder help each other in this quest,” he added. He asked everyone to journey with him as he embark on the crusade for a better and brighter future. “I serve everyone and not anyone.”

The second part was a meeting with Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office Martin Andanar and in the presence of Ateneo President, Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ. The Secretary said that the administration is for the promotion of social justice, that he wants justice for all; that he is now in the campaign for peace especially between the Bangsamoro and the CPP–NPA–NDF rebellion which refers to conflict between the government of the Philippines, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the New People’s Army (NPA) and the National Democratic Front (NDF). According to him, the peace negotiation between the CPP-NPA and the government is ongoing in Oslo, Norway hoping that they will have a “good talk.”

The upcoming barangay election was also tackled, he said, “everything is ready but still only the president has the final word whether to pursue or stop the said election.”

Sec. Andanar distributed an eight-page tabloid to the press entitled “Mula sa Masa, Para sa Masa, Masa Kasangga sa Pagbabago.”

The tabloid which will have an online version later, will be distributed through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) for free twice a month.

Four (4) studio programs will also be launched this year. These are The Broadcast Hub, Salam TV, Lumad TV, and National Television. The broadcast hub will be located in Mindanao, particularly in Davao City.

Sec. Andanar currently supervises the operations of government’s news and information agencies, television and radio stations including PIA, PNA, PTV-4 and PBS-Radyo ng Bayan. He also acts as a presidential spokesperson in press conferences by the Malacañang Press Corps. He assumed the secretaryship on June 30, 2016. (Jane Imas | Editorial Asst.)
