The Sisters of the Missionary of the Immaculate Conception (MIC) celebrated with the whole Church the 162th anniversary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, on December 8.

It is indeed significant for the MIC Sisters because they received the name, Immaculate Conception on the eve of the dogma’s 50th Anniversary on December 7, 1904. It was Pope Pius X who gave and consecrated the Institute to Mary, giving the MIC Sisters the whole world as field of apostolate.

The MIC Sisters believed that our Immaculate Mother has accompanied the congregation in its ups and downs in the history as an Institute. The Solemnity of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, being one of the feasts, allows the MIC Sisters to remember with gratitude the blessings as missionaries in thanksgiving. It is also during this feast that the MIC Sisters will have their devotional renewal of vows.

Sr. Maricris Diuyan, MIC said, “may we keep in mind what have heard it said, that to be truly grateful, is to remember – and to allow the memory to make a difference in one’s life. I hope our spirituality of thanksgiving is beyond doubt making a difference in our life.”

The eucharistic celebration started at 3:00 pm. It was presided by Fr. Reynaldo Retardo. The devotional renewal of vows of MIC Sisters followed after the homily. Sr. Justina Villagracia, MIC thanked the Mass presider and those who were present especially the associates, alumni, benefactors and friends of MIC for sharing their time and support to the MIC Sisters. The celebration ended up with a thanksgiving dinner. Viva Maria! (Hermie Mapute, AsMIC | Photos: Maria Nilda A. Rigodon)
