Being a mother

Mother and Child

Mother and Child Oil on Canvas by Herodion Lovino

Hiyee! What better way to understand what being a mother is all about than a poem written by a mother herself. Here is Mrs. Jennifer Lim Rasonable, one among the many supporters of DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM.

As a girl I loved to play pretend with little doll houses
And imagine myself in pink, filly dresses.
Thinking up stories of far away places,
Decorating my hair with ribbons and laces.

As a teen I dreamt of fairy tale endings,
Reading books with romantic beginnings.
Looking forward to spending hours on the phone with pals,
And weekend shopping with my gals.

Now as a wife and a mother I long for different things,
I pray for strength to face challenges that tomorrow may bring.
I take pride no longer in new dresses nor fresh painted nails,
Rather I find joy in my children’s milestones; whether good or fail.

Being a mother is never that easy,
It is not a choice that is light nor breezy.
All the joy, sorrow and pain I take with me,
Which I then offer to the Lord with one simple plea:

To keep my family safe and warm,
Away from any danger or harm.
That my children may grow up to be,
People who will serve Thee endlessly.
