Kids share life at the ANC

Another year has come to us for us to live and serve the Lord. Together with my friends, we visited some houses in Brgy. 22, Boulevard to ask some children about their experiences at the Archdiocesan Nourishment Center (ANC). I was inspired by the children’s stories especially on how they feel being served there.

The children that I’ve met were Cagas siblings: Clarissa, Aldrin, and Thom; Magtulis siblings: Kurt, Althea, Ayescha, and Angel; Valenzona siblings: Angel, Kristin, and Darlene; and Yezza Rosauro.

They said that they learned a lot of things because they were taught how to grow their faith in the Lord and were fed to keep them healthy. Some of them, specifically those who are 10 years old are fed in the morning from 10 am- 12 noon, while children age 10 years old and above are fed in the afternoon.

Clarissa, 9, said that she’s happy in going to the feeding center every day. Kristin, told me that she learned how to pray in the center. Kurt, 3, wants to become a policeman.

Majority of them told me that us that they learned how to pray the rosary.

The children considered the feeding center their second home, some of them have went there for 3 years and some were new.

The ANC continues to serve malnourished children or those who lack meals in one day. It serves as an instrument to solve hunger in the society. It aims to provide integral nourishment programs and services such as spiritual formation, medical assistance especially to the poorest of the poor in the area.
