The Season of Lent has begun. For many of us, this would perhaps mean a time for silence, a time for reflection, a time to take a pause from the unbearable noise of the world if only to enter into a deeper peace with ourselves. Yet, for the people in the humble parish of Brgy. Indangan, Davao City, the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish, this Season means accepting with greater zeal the call for action and evangelization.

Headed by its Parish Priest Fr. Elneri “Menying” Meñez, DCD, the Parish Formation Ministry is currently taking on the mission of visiting each GKK under their parish. “Doing what?” you may ask. Each visit consists of two components: the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and a GKK Lenten Reflection, which is basically an input grounded on this year’s celebration of the Year of the Parish. With this, there is holistic nourishment which is needed for the Season of Lent.

Indeed, Lent means a time for cleansing and preparation for the Easter that is to come. It is therefore such a blessing that there are people around us (such as the OLMMP Formation Ministry and Fr. Menying) who know and understand that cleansing and preparation can never be accomplished only by individuals. They are possible only through shared effort and communal faith, grounded on and strengthened by God’s unfailing grace. (Duane Allyson U. Gravador | OLMMP volunteer)
