A story was told about a priest who found it hard to prepare his homily for his Mass inside a jail. After reading the Gospel, he decided to go near the inmates for an interactive preaching. But while walking down the stairs, he fell down. He stood up immediately and grabbed the microphone and said, “I just wanted to show you that a man can rise up after he has fallen flat on his face.”
Let us all rise up from having fallen into our sinful vices of drug addiction and worldly pleasures, from our advocacies of war and killing, from our pride of being faultfinders. As we renew our baptismal promises, let us proclaim the good news that Jesus died for us that we may rise to new life.
“We bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this day he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus” (CCC 638).
