Davor Catholic schools participate in the Catholic educators’ congress

MATI CITY — The Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Mati participated in the Catholic Educators’ Congress on July 27-29, 2017, with the theme “Communion: Building and Sustaining Communities for Life” hosted by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy (IHMA).

After the registration, the socialization committee of the host school welcomed and ushered the delegates from the different participating schools to their quarters. An opening mass followed presided over by Diocesan Superintendent Fr. Jay B. Ramos, DCM, who also delivered the opening message, while the welcome address was delivered by IHMA directress, Sr. Milagros N. Gomez, MIC. The keynote speakers delved on their given topics: “The Philippine Catholic Schools Standards (PCSS)” by Ms. Suzette D. Aliño and Sr. Ma. Marissa R. Viri, RVM; “Education in the Era of New Evangelization” by Mr. Antonio S. Lumactod. All the educators underwent the workshops to hasten further learning through sharing. In the evening of the 1st day, the Night of Socialization showcased the teachers’ unique talents and hidden entertaining skills, demonstrating their creative passion for performing as teachers.

On the 2nd day, the educators were grouped according to grade level: Kinder to Grade 6 teachers as one; and others as principals and coordinators; Junior High and Senior High teachers. For every group a speaker was assigned for the designated topic in line with their specialization and level. The 3rd and last day continued with the workshop sessions, concluding with the giving of certificates to the delegates and plaques for the speakers. An unexpected raffle draw by the host school grabbed the teachers by surprise, as all had chances to avail of the prizes helpful for teaching. A delightful lunch culminated the entertaining event. As a whole, the congress was filled not only with learning but also with experiences and exposures that would pursue the future innovations in Education. (with Ray Kriscel Cañadora)
