Every new life is a thanksgiving to God

family planning editorialIt is laudable that the government cares for the health of women in this country. But in every planning and effort, a timely precaution issues forth from the mouth of Pope Benedict XVI, “we are always renewed whenever the world does not close itself to God, when we turn away from God, it is like a planet broken loose from its field of gravity, and forever wandering aimlessly through nothingness.” This warning is born out of experience of the Church of Europe, where reversions and excesses overwhelm the mindset of its people. Moreover, science and technology pitch in with a promise of solving every person’s emptiness, depression, injustice, etc. We dread the time when we will no longer be ourselves, when we lose the prayer norm of our existence.

In the past, every new life is supposed to be celebrated with a thanksgiving to God. Apparently, the secular atmosphere has vigorously promoted the conditioning of the people to the idea that new life is a threat, or a disease that has to be avoided by all means.

Finally, the Pope adds, “what is therefore at stake here is really our survival as human persons.” Mother of Mercy, pray for us.
