Bidding to beat last year’s unprecedented 2,500 walkers, Catholic family group Couples for Christ (CFC) will hold its annual Global Walk for Scholars on Sunday, September 17, starting at the Matina Town Square (MTS), Davao City.

With this year’s theme “Walk an Extra Mile for Love,” the event hopes to beat its previous record by attracting more than 3,000 walkers.

According to event head Benedict Mejorada, the global walk is organized by the Answering the Cry of the Poor (ANCOP) Program of Couples for Christ (CFC) as an annual activity in major cities around the world.
“With this, we can gather others to share in our mission of helping build a church of the home and a Church for the poor,” he explained.

Organized by Catholic Lay group Couples for Christ, the ANCOP program has sponsored more than 3,000 scholars in the country since 2011, with almost a hundred graduates from various schools and colleges in Davao city alone.

“It is our hope that with every year, more walkers can join, so that we can have more scholars,” said Mejorada.

Interested participants can register for 300 pesos to join the walk, which will start at 5:00 a.m. at the MTS.

After the walk, participants will gather again at the MTS for a mass and simple breakfast. For more information you may contact Edz Surigao at 2975505 or 09176282568.
