As the new season of the liturgical year starts, this season of advent, the Catholic Church throughout the Philippines, opens the year of the clergy and consecrated persons. Declared by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, the year 2018 is dedicated to the clergy and consecrated persons. This is part of our nine-year preparation for the 500th anniversary of our Christian faith as Filipinos.
The face of the Church has been greatly influenced by the clergy and consecrated persons. The call to a renewed Church and society requires new ways and methods in evangelization. New evangelization necessitates constant renewal of the Church’s servant-leaders.
“It always pains me greatly to discover how some Christian communities, and even consecrated persons, can tolerate different forms of enmity, division, calumny, defamation, vendetta, jealousy and the desire to impose certain ideas at all costs, even to persecutions which appear as veritable witch hunts. Whom are we going to evangelize if this is the way we act?” (Evangelii Gaudium 100)
With Mama Mary, let us pray that the clergy and consecrated persons may be renewed!
