Is every year always new?

Yes and No.

Most of us, without batting an eye, will immediately say Yes. But do we know why?

Well, we say, it is obvious: last year is gone. This year is another. Therefore it is new. But how do we know that last year is gone, and this year is new? Is the word Year some thing or some object we can see with our eyes, hear with our ears, and touch with our hands, feel with our hearts, and imagine with our mind?

It can be a lot confusing to realize that the answer to all these question is No! This needs some clarification.

First of all, the word Year refers to other Words such as 12 Months, Weeks, Days, Hours, Minutes, and Seconds. They are all about that concept called Time. This is invisible, intangible, inaudible and unimaginable. We can only have an idea of Time through our watches and clocks; calendar months, weeks and days; daily hours, minutes and seconds. They simply tell us about the passage or Movement of Time. This is the human way of knowing and understanding the concept of Time.

But from the perspective of Faith in God, Every Year is the same as last Year! Why? Because in God there is no time, only timelessness. In Him therefore there is no New Year!

But we as people of faith can really say HAPPY NEW YEAR because the timeless God entered time when Jesus His Son was born in time in Bethlehem more than two thousand years ago!
