Living the Pro-Life Value in My Family

This month’s celebration of pro-life reminded me of a very real and meaningful experience in my own family. I always knew life is precious, but I understood it more deeply when my mom got sick and had to stay in the hospital. That moment showed me how important it is to value life, especially the life of the people we love.

When my mom became ill, it was only me and my brother left inside the house. We were worried and unsure of what to do at first, but we knew we needed to be strong. Even though we were young, we tried our best checking the house, and preparing the small things she would need once she comes back home. It was challenging, but it made us more responsible. My mom eventually needed to undergo an operation, and my dad stayed with her in the hospital to take care of her. While they were away, me and my brother waited for updates and understood each other. It was a time that tested our patience, but it also made us realize how important family is during difficult moments. During those days, our house became quiet, but it also became a place filled with care. My brother and I were helping each other taking turns so that our mom never felt alone when she returns home. We learned to be patient and supported each other even in simple acts like bringing her water and helping her sit, it felt meaningful because they are made of love.

When my mom finally arrived home after the operation, we did our best to take care of her. Even though we were tired sometimes, we knew she needed us. Every small effort we made felt important because it showed how much we value her life. This experience helped me understand that caring for someone is one of the strongest ways to show love. During that time, I found comfort in the bible, especially in Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This verse reminded me that God is always with us, especially in moments of fear. It gave me courage and helped me stay hopeful even when things were difficult.

Through this experience, I learned that being pro-life is not just a belief, it is something we practice through our actions. It means valuing the life of every person, especially when they are weak or suffering. Caring for my mom showed me that life must be protected and cherished not only in dire situations but also in our everyday choices.

In the end, our family became stronger because of what we went through. We learned uniting and the importance of supporting each other no matter what. Most of all, I realized that being pro-life begins at home, in the love we show to our family. This experience taught me the true meaning of being pro-life: cherishing and protecting life.
