Saint Francis Xavier Parish, Tibungco celebrates 48th fiesta
St. Francis Xavier Parish of Tibungco had its 48th Parochial Fiesta last December 01, 2013. This is the 2nd year that the Fiesta is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of December instead of December 3, which is the actual Fiesta of St. Francis Xavier.
This year, however, was a joint celebration of Barangay Tibungco’s “6th Araw ng Tibungco” and the Parochial Fiesta. There were apprehensions at first but because of the cooperation of both the Parish headed by our Parish Priest Fr. Ben Capulong and the Parish Pastoral Council and GKK leaders, and the Brgy. Council of Tibungco headed by Brgy. Capt. Joseph Calvo, the celebration came out successful.
Even Archbishop Romulo Valles in his Fiesta Message only had good words to say, to quote: “Angay lang nga magkahiusa ang parokya ug ang Barangay Officials kay ang katawhan sa Tibungco mao ra man pud ang Parokyano sa St. Francis Xavier Parish”. It is in this light that the Barangay of Tibungco is planning to make a Barangay Resolution to have their “Araw ng Tibungco” Celebration on the 1st Sunday of December instead of December 1 each year to have it celebrated jointly with the Annual Parochial Fiesta.
After the 9:00AM Pontifical Mass, the Barangay had their “Araw ng Tibungco” Celebration in the Calvary Grounds while alongside is SFX Parish’s Pista ng Parokya. The Joint Celebration lasted until 4:00 PM with everybody going home tired but fulfilled.
