Social Communications Ministry Holds Year Planning and Post-Christmas Gathering

The Social Communications (SocCom) Ministry of the Diocese of Mati conducted its 4th Quarterly Meeting and Year Planning session from January 2-4, 2025, at Nuestra Señora de Guia Parish in Dawan. The gathering also featured a Post-Christmas celebration and an outreach program, marking a meaningful start to the new year.

The three-day event began with the arrival of SocCom members from various parishes who participated in the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Alfe Alimbon, with Rev. Fr. Ronnel Ian M. Garcia, OSA, as concelebrant.

During the quarterly meeting, parish coordinators presented their accomplishment reports, highlighting the ministry’s work over the past year. The planning session focused on the activities for 2025, with particular emphasis on preparations for the Jubilee of Hope. As one of the designated pastoral agencies for the month of March, the SocCom ministry is set to play a key role in the diocese’s Jubilee celebrations.

The second day commenced with a Holy Rosary, followed by preparations for the ministry’s annual outreach program. Participants visited the Reception Study and Diagnostic Center in Mati City, where they brought food and basic necessities for 22 beneficiaries. The program included a short but lively presentation, bringing joy and entertainment to those in attendance.

In the afternoon, the participants engaged in team-building activities designed to foster teamwork and strengthen bonds among members. The day concluded with a Social Night, featuring a fellowship dinner, talent presentations, and an exchange of humorous gifts, providing an evening of camaraderie and fun.

The event was capped off with a reflection on the importance of community, collaboration, and sharing, especially during the Christmas season. The gathering was a resounding success, filled with joy, laughter, and a renewed sense of mission. The SocCom Ministry expressed gratitude to all the sponsors and participants who contributed to making the event memorable.

This three-day gathering not only strengthened the bonds among SocCom members but also reaffirmed their commitment to their mission of nurturing communication and collaboration within the diocese. (Erica Vette V. Pasaylo and Mary Grace R. Sumili)
