One Faith, One Family, One Community
In a single Sunday, St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish Buhangin gathered for three celebrations: the Holy Trinity Sunday, the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) Sunday and the Father’s Day. What may seem like separate occasions is, in truth a divine harmony: the Most Holy Trinity, a perfect communion of love of One God in Three Persons, the GKK/BEC, the living Church of Christ in the local communities, and the tribute to the men whom we call as “papa”, “tatay”, “daddy” and etc.
During the 5:30 pm, Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Orlando “Orly” Angelia, Parish Priest of SMPRP, the GKK Servant Leaders (GSL) from the different ministries, and the fathers who attended the Mass received a special blessing.
After the mass, the GSLs gathered at the Parish Gym to celebrate the BEC Sunday. The program began with the singing of the Entrance Hymn, the theme song of the Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope. It was followed by the opening prayer, conversation with the Spirit and concluded with the praying of the Lord’s Prayer led by Bro. Junifer Francis Valde and a roll-call of the zones, ministries.
Fr. Orly gave the opening remarks wherein he expressed his gratitude for the presence of the GSLs especially since many happily attended the gathering despite the short notice and preparation. He also shared his own meaning of the acronym BEC, B-elongingness, E-ncouragement, C-ommunion. He said that everyone will be empowered to continue serving if they feel that they belong to the community and at the same time if they encourage each other to grow as a servant leader.
The prayer for meals followed and the GSLs shared a community dinner together and contributed different variety of foods for one another. While the dinner was ongoing, an Audio-Visual Presentation of the different GKKs under SMPRP was also presented. After eating, the program also included a special tribute for the superdads, wherein the song “Through the Years” was sung by the Dumapias brothers from GKK SIL-CDE.
As the program went on, the launching of the new BEC logo also took place including the explanation behind the new logo design. The night was filled with lively music as the GSLs, servers and staff together with Fr.Orly had their community dancing and community singing.
Before going home, Fr. Orly gave some Parish Announcements such as the launching of the: “Adopt a Chair and Table from each GKK and Ministry for the Parish”. The Marian Song “O Maria, Rayna sa Pilipinas” was also sung and offered to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Fr. Orly gave the final blessing and the night ended with warm smiles and empowered hearts.
May the Most Holy Trinity continue to bless and guide the BECS! Happy Sunday! (Allyza Hope J. Tabigue)
