Young. Chosen. Sent: DAYCA Delegates NYD 2025 Ready!

Last June 01, 2025, on the very same day of the Solemnity of the Ascension, the 157 National Youth Day (NYD) 2025 Delegates of the Archdiocese of Davao were being sent-forth during the 6:00pm Mass at the San Pedro Cathedral. Most. Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao presided over the Holy Mass and gave his blessing to the delegates of the Archdiocese. The 2025 National Youth Day will take place on June 10-14 in the Archdiocese of Caceres, Naga City, with the theme: “Rejoice in hope, endure in afflictions, persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:12)

Coinciding with the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, the celebration took on a deeply symbolic resonance. Just as Christ ascended and entrusted His disciples with the mission to proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth, so too were the delegates who are commissioned to go forth as modern witnesses of faith, hope, and love.

Abp. Valles shared that the Church gives time and effort to the young people simply because the future and even now, they would run and would become the key leaders of the Church. He also stated that is good that in an early age the youth are practicing and manifesting their faith. The archbishop also reminded the youth in his homily to rejoice and to be hopeful and to gaze in the Lord.

Mr. John Anthony Camangyan or also known as “Kuya Dolly”, lay-coordinator of the Davao Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA) expressed his joy since the archbishop himself will officiate their sending forth. He also shared that prior that day, they held a recollection at San Pedro Cathedral for the NYD Delegates. Kuya Dolly is also excited to see and experience the National Youth Day once more after the pandemic.

Ate Ivy and Ate Mary Grace, NYD delegates from San Antonio de Padua Parish Agdao also shared their joy upon being sent-forth. The sending-forth is a symbol that the National Youth Day is at hand. Ate Ivy also shared that she is nervous because as the Youth Coordinator of their parish, she will be joined with many first timers wherein during the event, there will be instances that they will be separated from one another. Ate Mary Grace also felt blessed at the same time excited since it is also her first time to join in the national level. As part of their preparations, they had a pre-NYD orientation and recollection, they had their own checklists and had their financial and spiritual preparations. They are constantly praying for the success of the upcoming NYD 2025.

From Davao to Naga, these young people rose, just as Christ did, to go forth and proclaim their faith to the whole nation. May the 2025 National Youth Day through the youth who are full of hope, serve as avenue to spread the Good News of the Lord to others. (Allyza Hope J. Tabigue)
