Sagop Kinabuhi Program 2 (SKP 2) 2025

Sagop Kinabuhi Program 2: Transforming Lives One Person at a Time

The Archdiocese of Davao marked another milestone in the Sagop Kinabuhi Program 2 (SKP2), a Community Based Program under the Archdiocesan Social Action Center (ASAC) held a celebration on July 12, 2025 at San Pablo Parish during the 12 noon Holy Mass together with Rev. Fr. Leonardo Dublan, Jr. and Rev. Fr. Ramon Jamora – honoring both new participants and successful completers of this transformative faith-based rehabilitation program. Presided over by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D., the event highlighted the Church’s unwavering commitment to helping individuals overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

The ceremony recognized 13 individuals who successfully completed Phase 1 of the 17-week Community Based Program representing the 14th batch at the archdiocesan level. These completers now progress to Phase 2’s Sub-life Fellowship, where they continue their journey through active participation in recovery communities. The event also welcomed nine new Persons in Recovery into Phase 3, the intensive six-to-seven month SKP training program that forms the heart of the rehabilitation process. The ultimate goal for participants is reaching Phase 4, where they become facilitators themselves, guiding new candidates through the same program that transformed their lives.

In his moving homily, Archbishop Valles reminded all present of their inherent worth, emphasizing that “You are worth more than many sparrows.” His message emphasized that no past is too broken for redemption, and that God’s mercy offers everyone a chance at new beginnings. Fr. Leonardo Dublan, Jr., ASAC Director, built on this theme, challenging the completers to now become channels of the same mercy they received. He particularly acknowledged the dedicated work of parish social action ministries, program facilitators, and benefactors whose support makes these transformations possible.

The SKP program’s four-phase approach demonstrates the Church’s holistic vision for recovery – not just treating addiction but restoring individuals to full participation in family, community, and faith life. From the initial 17-week community program through to becoming facilitators themselves, participants experience a complete journey of healing and empowerment. As the 14th batch of completers moves forward and new candidates begin their rehabilitation, the Sagop Kinabuhi Program continues to prove that with faith, community support, and proper guidance, recovery is not just possible but can become the foundation for a renewed life of purpose and service.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants both those beginning their journey and those celebrating milestones united in their shared experience of God’s healing mercy and their determination to pay that gift forward to others still struggling. Through programs like SKP, the Archdiocese of Davao continues to transform lives, one person, one family, one community at a time.
