Lakbay Laum Journey in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish
Last August 30, 2025, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish was filled with joy, faith, and youthful energy as we celebrated the Parish Culmination of Lakbay Laum. It was more than just an event, it was a true journey of hope, a day where the youth came together not only to celebrate but also to deepen their love for God and for His Church.
The celebration opened with an uplifting message from our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Maximo R. Bahinting, DCD, who reminded everyone of the indispensable role of the youth in the life and mission of the Church. His words set the tone for a day of faith, fellowship, and renewal. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement during the animations and group activities, creating bonds of friendship and memories to treasure. At the same time, moments of silence and reflection during the plenaries allowed the young people to encounter God more personally.
Our beloved Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Ritzchild John S. Cariaga, DCD, poured his heart into reminding the youth of Christ’s unfailing love for His Church as drawn from Lumen Gentium. With great conviction, he called on every young person with this powerful invitation: “Dear Young People of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Love, Serve, and Defend the Church!” His words were not just heard but deeply felt, echoing in the hearts of the youth present.
The day was further enriched with engaging activities like the Body Song and a meaningful discussion on Gaudium et Spes delivered by Kuya Ryan Mejillano, Catholic Faith Defenders National President. These moments helped the young people understand their mission in today’s world to live their faith courageously, joyfully, and with a sense of responsibility. The celebration reached a beautiful close with a solemn Taizé Prayer, where the soft hymns and candlelit atmosphere invited everyone to be still and rest in God’s presence.
The sight of young people joyfully embracing the Cross and the image of St. John Paul II was a testimony that the fire of faith is alive in their hearts. Truly, Lakbay Laum is not just a program, but a living journey, a pilgrimage of faith, love, and service. As the youth walk together, they bring with them the hope of the Church and the mission to be Christ’s witnesses in today’s world.
Together, we walk in hope. Together, we walk in love. Together, we walk in mission. And together, we journey as one Church, guided by Christ and strengthened by the Spirit. (Kristelle D. Billones – Parish Youth Coordinator)
