Kitakyushu City, Japan to Offer Project to Davao City

Kitakyushu City Council of Japan planned to promote Waste to Energy Project in Davao City wherein electricity will be generated from the primary treatment of waste.

Together with Kitakyushu Council, Chairperson Shusaku Inoue visited Davao City and revealed their plan during the regular session of the 18th City Council on February 19, 2019.

There was an exchange of tokens during the visit between Davao City Council and Kitakyushu City Council in celebration of their two-year sisterhood agreement called Green Sisterhood Cooperation.

The two cities commit to support one another especially on terms of resource cycling and capacity building among other fields in promoting the green city development.

Kitakyushu is best known as a topnotch in implementing environmental pollution control measure after becoming a “Green City” from a “Gray City” label before.

Davao City Council was happy to hear the offer but would like to study first the said possible project if it is applicable in the city before adopting it. (Areo Bayno)
