New Evangelizers – Migrants
Statistics will tell us that more than ten million Filipinos work abroad, not counting those who have finally settled in the countries of their choice. Also, the huge amount of money sent by them year on year continuously supports our economy. We also know the social costs that go with this phenomenon. Countless stories of broken families and abuse fill the news.
However, unknown to many, stories of parishes have been revived due to the presence of Filipino communities. Stories of hard-work, honesty, and integrity abound. A young caregiver ended up teaching her old patients to pray the rosary, nurses in a middle-east country were herded to the police station for praying the rosary, only to be released shortly as their patients overwhelmingly prefer their personalized care over their colleagues of foreign descent, rich nationalities admire the standard and example of Filipinos who periodically clean their homes, and many more. Let us continuously ask God who need more of His children to help in the redemption of the many through our migrants who are evangelizing the world with their work and prayer. Our Blessed Mother, Star of Evangelization, pray for us.
