Loboc Youth Ambassadors band to perform in Davao City, Dec. 28
On its 50th anniversary, the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao will bring to Davao City the Loboc Youth Ambassadors band to perform in a concert on December 28, 7pm, at the SMX Convention Center.
The concert, intended to help in the rehabilitation of the centuries-old parish church in Loboc, Bohol, will also feature the seminary’s Schola Cantorum.
Msgr. Abel Apigo, rector of St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary said the concert is a perfect way to celebrate the golden year of the seminary, which has produced a number of priests in Mindanao.
The concert will be a chance for Davaoeños to witness the vast talents of the people of Loboc through the performances of the Loboc Youth Ambassadors band.
The band which was formed in May 2007 serves as a poverty alleviation project of the Loboc Youth Education Association (LYEA) that sends interested beneficiaries, children from grades 3 to 4th year high school students and legitimate residents of Loboc to become members in school bands in the province and cities nearby.
Members are provided with free musical instruments and are being trained in notes reading and instrumentation. The project aims to support poverty reduction through the use of music as a passport for these students to avail their College Education for free.
LYEA has produced 495 students on three batches in which 142 of them became college scholars on the different leading universities and colleges in the region.
The Loboc Youth Ambassadors band, headed by Mr. Argee Melisimo, has also toured in China for the 4th time and represented as the official Republic of the Philippines band contingent led by the Department of Tourism in promoting tourism destinations in the country. (@dcherald)
