PICPA Convention, Emphasizes Values

The 79th Annual National Convention (ANC) of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) was held from November 20 to 23, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao City. This highly anticipated event gathered over 4,000 professionals from the accountancy field under the theme “Values Above All,” emphasizing the importance of integrity and ethical standards in the profession. The event provided a platform for Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) from all over the Philippines, as well as international guests, to collaborate, learn, and network.

A special highlight of the convention occurred on November 21, 2024, when Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao, presided over a Eucharistic celebration at 12:00 noon. The solemn mass added a spiritual dimension to the event, reflecting the convention’s values-centered theme.

Chairperson Napoleon Rocero emphasized the importance of the convention, noting that it serves as a vital opportunity for CPAs to acquire new knowledge and understand the latest regulations that will impact their practice. It is also a time for professionals to reconnect with peers from different regions and share experiences that enhance both personal and professional growth. The event, which attracted 4,180 participants, provided a dynamic environment for learning and collaboration.

Throughout the convention, attendees were offered a variety of technical sessions that covered emerging trends in the accounting profession, as well as social and networking activities designed to foster meaningful connections among professionals. Local and international speakers shared their expertise on a range of topics relevant to modern accountancy, offering invaluable insights for those in attendance.

The PICPA, which stands as the national Accredited Integrated Professional Organization (AIPO) for Certified Public Accountants in the Philippines, played a pivotal role in organizing this significant event. As a non-stock, non-profit organization accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), PICPA continues to be at the forefront of advancing the accountancy profession in the country.
