BOTO SAGRADO: CMN Special Coverage of Elections 2025

The more than 55 member stations of the Catholic Media Network simultaneously launched the special coverage for the National and Local Elections on May 12, 2025, dubbed as BOTO SAGRADO, April 6, 2025.

Catholic Bishops Conference Chairman on Social Communications, Bishop H.E. Junie Maralit, in cooperation with Caelestis Productions have created VOTERS EDUCATION MATERIALS for our multi broadcast platforms (social media and radio) in three (3) versions: English, Tagalog, Cebuano.

Content of the materials include voting guidelines and reminders, voters education video and the importance of voting.

In the caption of the longform in the Importance of Voting, it states that, “The time has come again when we’ll hear the phrase “vote wisely.” While it’s often repeated, do we still truly understand its significance in our lives?”

In the video and audio plugs, Atty. Donna Camitan, Atty. George Erwin Garcia, and Bishop Junie shared the importance of even one vote since it is the only time and right of suffrage of the people to choose their candidates.

“Please do note vote based on personalities,” Atty. Camitan urged the people to “vote for the platform, I would look for track record, and if they win, then we have good governance for the next three (3) years.”

On his part, COMELEC Chairman Garcia said that choosing a candidate should be based on how well the voter knows about the character of the candidate and not due to his popularity.

While Bishop Maralit explains that the development of the country shall depend upon the vote or voice of the people as they explore the vital connections between democracy, voting, and nation-building.

In the Archdiocese of Davao, DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM shall adopt the CBCP ESC through CMN’s campaign BOTO SAGRADO or the “Vote, Sacred” in its special coverage of the NLE using the brand and the jingle now being played over the airwaves.

The same campaign brand shall also be used in the reportage of the different Parish SocComs from 5:00 am until 6:00 p.m. and even after the closing of the 266 voting centers.
