Showing Mercy Online
The advancement of technology communicating online offers an opportunity to show mercy to those who most need it. Knowing that online communications are often used to bash and destroy the dignity of others, Catholic communicators must share the benefit of God’s mercy online by becoming authentic influencers. This can be done on the condition that one lives his true identity being created in God’s image and likeness.
For St. John Henry Newman “communication should never be reduced to something artificial, to a marketing strategy, as we might say nowadays, but is rather a reflection of the soul, the visible surface of a nucleus of love that is invisible to the eye” (Pope Francis). It is only in returning to our own identity of having been created in God’s love that we, whose Divine mercy we have received, can be communicators of such mercy online.
As we trust in Jesus’ mercy, may we flood online His mercy for all!
