HCDC 55th Commencement Exercises

NEW BEGINNINGS: HCDC confers 1,898 graduates in 55th Commencement Exercises

The Holy Cross of Davao College has once again fulfilled its promise in producing trailblazers of life as 1,898 graduate and undergraduate students officially received their diplomas and degrees during its 55th Commencement Exercises.

Parents, guardians, students, and school personnel turned the SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao City into a venue of fulfilled dreams, marking an end to their academic journey and a beginning of new opportunities.

In his message to the graduates. Br. Noelvic H. Deloria, S.C., the president of HCDC, emphasized that the foundation of a meaningful life is being grateful to God and to the people who supported their academic journey.

“They are truly gifts, regardless of how they’ve been presented, shaping the person you are today. Embrace both the good and challenging times, for they are the crucibles that polish the diamonds hidden within your hearts,” Br. Deloria said.

Centering on the mission of the institution in forming future-ready citizens engaged in building a more humane world, Br. Deloria focused on gratitude, selfless service, and resilience as the ‘invaluable jewels’ of their life after graduation.

“Carry these values with you and transform them into concrete actions wherever you go. Strive to remain robust physically, financially, emotionally, and spiritually,” he added.

In her inspiring address of thanks, batch valedictorian Alexandra Victoria D. Galera, a Magna Cum Laude from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) pointed out that Holy Crossians continue to thrive academically because of the hard work and commitment of the management and educators to provide them with the quality Catholic Education.

“As we look back, it’s clear how we’ve grown so much. Today isn’t the end, but is only the beginning. There will be more challenges ahead, that’s for sure,” she said.

“But with God’s guidance, the love of our families, the support of our friends, and the resilience we have built through this journey, I believe we will conquer what needs to be conquered bravely and boldly,” the batch valedictorian added.

This year, HCDC themed its graduation with the ‘Tree of Life’ — showcasing the school’s mission to grow in faith, become resilient citizens, and provide service to people in all walks of life.

“The Tree of Life is God’s magnificent symbol of blessings and grace. For us believers in Jesus Christ, the Tree of Life is Jesus Himself, whose arms are eternally open, offering redemption and salvation through His unconditional love and sacrifice. Together with the Tree of Life we rise as a testament of the Triumph of the Cross,” Br. Deloria said.

Since its establishment in 1951, HCDC has strived not only for academic excellence, but continues to realize its thrust to build a world where students are well-educated and equipped with wisdom to trailblaze into their future. (Razl EJ Teman, Cross Media Scholar)
