Lakbay-Laum Prayer Journey: Where Hope Shines Through Flowing Tears and Silent Joy
The San Roque Parish Youth Apostolate joyfully concluded their Lakbay-Laum Prayer Journey on September 28, 2025, carrying the theme “Hope does not disappoint” (Romans 5:5). Embarking on the Emmaus Prayer Journey as their chosen path, the participants entered into a meaningful overnight encounter of prayer and reflection.
The celebration began in the afternoon of September 27, 2025, with the Reception and Exaltation of the Youth Pilgrimage Cross and the Image of St. John Paul II, presided over by the new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Amado B. Arroyo.
In his welcome message, Fr. Arroyo said, “Dream big, why? Because that is possible,” reminding the youth to always hold on to the hope of their dreams, for in God’s time they will unfold into reality. He likewise emphasized the blessing of being able to gather as one community of young faithful, highlighting the importance of their active participation in youth activities.
As the evening deepened, tears began to flow during the Veneration of the Cross and the Image of St. John Paul II, as participants knelt, bowed in reverence, and whispered their personal intentions. The event also featured engaging sessions such as the open forum in Session 1: Hope Does Not Disappoint and the testimony in Session 2: Light of the Nation, both held at Fr. Balaquinto Hall, along with a bonfire gathering in Session 3: The Way of Light under the cloudy, peaceful sky.
Building on the spirit of prayer, the reflection continued as the youth moved inside the church, where a short film viewing and reflection followed by a unity prayer led them to a personal encounter with God. Tears once again flowed freely in the midst of silence and peaceful joy, as they found comfort in His sanctuary.
In the end, the Lakbay-Laum Prayer Journey became a true experience of hope. Through shared silent joy, flowing tears, heartfelt prayers, and moments of reflective silence, the youth experienced comfort and renewal in the light of Christ, who redeemed the world through His Cross, guided by St. John Paul II, inspired by the virtues of San Roque, and interceded for by the motherly love of Mama Mary.
To God be the glory!
