A Walk to Remember
The Parochial Penitential Walk happened in La Verna Parish last November 30, 2025. It was a wonderful and meaningful walk for the parishioners. It was participated by all 21 GKKs and Organizations with around 500 people who walked, prayed the Holy Rosary and sacrificed, united as one big Church with a common purpose: to stand for Transparency and Accountability.
There were 3 starting points for the said big activity, which started simultaneously at 4:30 AM. The first group assembled at RDL, near Airport Road, proceeded to La Verna upper Entrance. While the 2nd group started from La Verna main Entrance. And the 3rd group came from Punad Entrance. All groups gathered at the Parish Grounds for the Blessing of the 3 CAROs with the Holy Images of the Blessed Mother.
The highlight of the Penitential Walk was the celebration of the Holy Mass, First Sunday of Advent, officiated by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Gonzaga, Parish Priest and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Loreto Bastasa. Fr. Bong’s homily focused on the message from the Letter of Most Rev. Romulo Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao. And he expressed his gratitude to all for their presence and untiring support. It was indeed an experience to remember and a touching one. All present were moved by the Final Song “Heal our Land”.
After the Live-streamed Mass, everyone enjoyed the Free Lugaw and the Fellowship with one another. Through the Penitential Walk, it is a challenge for each one to live out the Call, “Pag-ampo nga Malaumon, Pagbarog nga way Kahadlok sa Kamatuoran, Pagsumpo nga maisogon sa Kurapsyon.” (Lea Bernaldez)
