San Francisco de Asis Parish-Tagakpan Gears Up for Kasalan ng Parokya 2026

San Francisco de Asis Parish in Tagakpan is once again preparing for its annual Kasalan ng Parokya, scheduled on February 14, 2026, as part of the continuing mission of the parish to strengthen Christian family life and uphold the sanctity of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

During the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Meeting held last Sunday, January 11, 2026, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Mario B. Holmina, OSJ, underscored the important role of every Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) in encouraging unmarried couples who are living together to take part in the upcoming mass wedding. Fr. Mario emphasized that the initiative is not merely an event but a pastoral response to help couples regularize their relationships before God and the Church.

Fr. Mario also shared that the Kasalan ng Parokya is a yearly undertaking of the parish, reflecting its long-term commitment to family and marriage ministry. He further expressed his hope that within the next three years, at least 90 couples will have received the Sacrament of Matrimony through this program.

In the same meeting, the parish secretary, Mrs. Grace A. Cafe, clarified that couples who wish to join the Kasalan ng Parokya will not be required to pay any fees. Participants are only asked to prepare and submit the necessary civil documents for marriage, while any financial contribution to the parish will be purely voluntary.

The parish also reiterated the Church’s teaching on marriage. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “A so-called free union or cohabitation… is contrary to the moral law” (CCC 2390). Living together without the bond of marriage is therefore considered sinful, as it goes against God’s plan for love and family life, which finds its fullness in the sacramental union of husband and wife.

With the Kasalan ng Parokya 2026, the entire parish community of San Francisco de Asis continues to work hand in hand to ensure that parishioners are cared for not only materially but, more importantly, spiritually. Through this collective effort, the parish hopes to guide couples toward a deeper relationship with God and a more meaningful, grace-filled family life rooted in the Sacrament of Marriage.
