God’s Word Comes Alive in Homes and Young Hearts

Across the nation, parishes and communities are coming together in prayer and reflection as they celebrate National Bible Month with the theme “The Word of God Brings Life to Our Homes and to Our Hearts.” More than a yearly observance, this celebration reminds the faithful that the Bible is a living word—one that continues to touch lives, strengthen families, and guide the youth.

In many homes, the Bible is more than a treasured book placed on a family altar. It is opened during quiet evenings, read during difficult times, and shared during moments of gratitude. Families who pray and reflect on Scripture together often find themselves growing closer, learning to forgive, and rediscovering love and understanding within their homes. Through these simple acts, homes become places of peace and faith.

For the youth, the Word of God offers direction in a world filled with pressure and uncertainty. Many young people struggle with questions about their identity, relationships, and future. In Scripture, they find reassurance that they are loved, valued, and never alone. God’s Word encourages them to live with faith, integrity, and compassion as they face the challenges of daily life.

These experiences are reflected in the programs of the Archdiocesan Bible Apostolate of Davao (ABAD), which continues to bring Sacred Scripture closer to the people. Through initiatives such as the Liturgical Bible Study, parishioners deepen their understanding of God’s message and learn how to live it out each day. A highlight of this year’s National Bible Month celebration is the 4th Archdiocesan Youth Bible Symposium, which will be held on January 31, 2026, at the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao in Catalunan Grande, Davao City. The symposium will gather young people from various parishes across the archdiocese for a day of prayer, learning, and joyful engagement with the Bible through activities such as Bible enthronement, Scripture sharing, and Bible quiz competitions.

National Bible Month also reminds the faithful that the Word of God is not meant to remain on the pages of a book. It is meant to be heard, shared, and lived. When Scripture is proclaimed in church, discussed in small groups, and practiced through acts of kindness and service, it slowly but surely transforms hearts and communities.

As the celebration continues, the faithful are invited to make the Word of God part of their daily lives. Across generations, the Bible continues to bring life—renewing homes, guiding the youth, and shaping hearts in the local Church. (Zyra O. Duller)
