PSL and EMHC Complete Two-Batch Renewal Recollection at SRP – Toril

The Pangulo Sa Liturhiya (PSL) and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) of Sto. Rosario Parish, Toril, recently completed their Renewal Recollection, held in two batches to allow more ministers to participate in a deeper time of prayer and reflection. The first batch, held on March 6–7 at Monte Ana Mountain Resort, Sitio Katandungan, Barangay Baganihan, was attended by 90 participants, while the second batch, conducted on March 15–16 at Sunridge Resort, Catigan, Toril District, Davao City, had 82 participants. In total, 172 PSL and EMHC from the parish joined the recollection sessions.

The recollections were facilitated by Ms. Mildred Sasam, Head Catechist of Sto. Rosario Parish, and Fr. Jess Samaniego, Parish Priest, ensuring a meaningful and prayerful experience for all participants.

Centered on the theme “Service with Humility and Obedience,” the recollection invited participants to reflect on the spiritual foundation of their ministry through the key words “Chosen, Entrusted, and Sent.” The reflection reminded the ministers that their service is not merely a task but a sacred calling given by the Church and entrusted to them by the community.

During the sessions, the participants were encouraged to deepen their reverence for the Holy Eucharist, recognizing the great responsibility of serving as ministers who help distribute the Body of Christ to the faithful and bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.

One of the highlights of the recollection was the Conversation in the Spirit, where participants prayerfully shared their reflections and listened to one another in a spirit of discernment and openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This moment allowed the ministers to express their experiences, challenges, and hopes for their continuing service in the parish.

The recollection concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, followed by fellowship lunch among the participants. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to pause, reflect, and renew their commitment to serve with humility, reverence, and faith.

Through this recollection, Sto. Rosario Parish, Toril hopes that both the PSL and EMHC will continue to grow not only as ministers at the altar but also as witnesses of Christ’s presence in their families, communities, and daily lives. (Fr. Jess Samaniego)
