46 Years of Faithful Service: Fr. Pedro Lamata Marks Sacerdotal Anniversary

DAVAO CITY — Rev. Fr. Pedro Pedregosa Lamata, affectionately known as “Fr. Pete,” celebrated 46 years of priestly ministry last March 31, 2026, at Villa Carmelita. Clergy, classmates, parishioners, friends, and family gathered to honor his decades of faithful service to the Church.

The solemn Eucharistic Celebration began at 5:30 PM, with Fr. Pete as the main celebrant. Bishop Colin Bagaforo, DD, Bishop of Kidapawan, delivered the homily, reflecting on his long-standing friendship with Fr. Pete. Bishop Colin highlighted the priest’s humility, pastoral zeal, and unwavering dedication, sharing personal anecdotes that illustrated his joyful spirit and the profound impact of his ministry.

Before the final blessing, Fr. Pete shared reflections on his 46 years of priestly ministry. He recalled that he was ordained on a Holy Monday during Holy Week, and that the very first confession he heard was on Holy Tuesday. With a smile, he recounted that one of the penitents had a very familiar voice—it was his mother. He described the moment as deeply humbling and a reminder of God’s presence in every stage of his vocation. He also expressed gratitude to God for the gift of the priesthood and to all who have supported him along the way, encouraging the faithful to remain steadfast in their faith and service.

Following the Mass, guests joined a festive reception adorned in gold and white, reflecting gratitude and the enduring light of vocation. A commemorative backdrop highlighted the theme: “Forty-Six Years of God’s Faithfulness to the One He Calls.”

The anniversary concluded in prayerful thanksgiving, as the community entrusted Fr. Lamata to God’s sustaining grace, asking that he may continue to serve with strength, joy, and fidelity in the years ahead. (Jesse Hipolito)
