SYC 2026: We Are Rooted, Radiant, And Ready: A Three-Day Youth Pilgrimage of Faith, Formation, and Fraternity
The SYC 2026 Youth Camp, anchored on the theme “We Are Rooted, Radiant, and Ready,” gathered young pilgrims from various GKKs for a three-day encounter of faith, formation, and fraternity. Held at the Immaculate Conception Parish and Holy Cross of Mintal Inc., the event became a living witness of how the youth, when rooted in Christ, can become radiant in faith and ready for mission in today’s world.
The camp journey unfolded as a sacred pilgrimage—beginning with encounter, deepening through formation, and culminating in unity and commitment. More than a gathering, SYC 2026 became a spiritual experience where young people rediscovered their identity as friends of Christ and builders of hope in the Church and society.
DAY 1: Pilgrims Have Arrived
The first day opened with the arrival of delegates and the Parade of Delegates, a joyful expression of unity among the youth. The solemn enthronement of the Cross, together with the images of St. Carlo Acutis, St. John Paul II, and Mama Mary, marked the official beginning of the spiritual journey, reminding everyone that Christ is the center of all mission and encounter.
In his opening message, Rev. Fr. Zenon B. Ampong, DCD, emphasized that SYC is not merely an event but a calling to deepen one’s relationship with Christ, strengthen friendships, and become instruments of God’s love.
The day continued with orientation, getting-to-know activities led by Kuya Rox Felix Abrio, and the formation of GKK Dynamic Groups, where participants began building relationships with fellow delegates.
The spiritual tone of the camp deepened with the Opening Holy Mass, followed by the Via Lucis (Way of Light), where participants reflected on the Resurrection of Christ—from the empty tomb to Pentecost. Through each station, the youth were reminded that Jesus is alive and continues to walk with His people in hope and mission.
The day concluded with a powerful Praise Circle led by John Anthony “Dolly” Camangyan, where worship and reflection allowed the delegates to encounter Christ in silence, song, and community prayer.
DAY 2: Walking in Faith, Living the Mission
The second day began with a Marian Procession, as the youth walked in prayer and devotion to Mama Mary, offering the Holy Rosary and hymns of praise. This act of faith highlighted Mary as a model of discipleship—one who listens, trusts, and follows Christ wholeheartedly.
The procession was followed by the Holy Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Samuel Ma. Carandang, OATH, together with Rev. Fr. Perry Neil Patayon, gathered the youth at the table of the Lord in thanksgiving and unity.
A joyful morning exercise led by the Hiraya Dance Ministry energized the assembly before proceeding to the program recap and formation sessions.
A key highlight of the day was the first plenary talk, “Friends, Therefore Witnesses,” delivered by Rev. Fr. Perry Neil G. Patayon. The talk underscored that authentic friendship with Jesus naturally leads to witnessing His love in daily life—not through perfection, but through sincerity, integrity, and faithful living.
A series of Learning Tracks followed, led by respected speakers from various fields of education, ministry, and service:
- NO CHEAT, NO COMPROMISE – Rikka Babes A. Estoque
- STAND UP, STAND OUT – John Anthony O. Camangyan
- POST WITH PURPOSE – Gie Rhea O. Jadulco
- BE THE LIGHT – Sean Michael S. Tesoro
- MISSION STARTS WITH ME – Edsan Colin V. Santander
- REAL TALK: FAITH THAT SHOWS – Errol James E. Santos, LPT
- KINDNESS IS LOUD – Cheery Mae T. Fabroa
Each session provided practical and faith-centered formation, helping the youth connect Gospel values with real-life challenges. Topics such as integrity, courage, digital responsibility, kindness, mission, and faith in action provided practical guidance for young people navigating today’s challenges.
In the afternoon, team-building activities led by Kuya Ian strengthened unity and trust among participants. Through interactive challenges, the youth learned that faith is lived not in isolation, but in community, where each person’s presence strengthens the whole.
The day culminated in PASUNDAYAG: The Socio-Cultural Night, a vibrant celebration of talents, unity, and identity. Through performances, music, and dance, delegates expressed the beauty of fraternity and shared mission. The evening ended in praise and worship, sealing the day in gratitude and spiritual renewal.
DAY 3: Fraternity as Bond of Peace
The final day opened with morning praise and preparation, setting a reflective moment for the camp’s conclusion.
The final plenary session, “Fraternity as Bond of Peace,” led by Sr. Fe Cantila, PM, and Sr. Edel Gula, PM, highlighted that Christian life is not lived alone but in communion. Friendship with Christ naturally grows into mission, and mission matures into fraternity—where believers become signs of peace and unity in the world.
A meaningful symbolic activity, the “Burning Bush,” invited each GKK group to write personal commitments inspired by the camp’s teachings. These flame-shaped commitments represented individual missions united into one collective witness of faith. Together, they formed a powerful image of unity—Christ present among His people.
The day continued with fellowship and celebration through a boodle fight, symbolizing shared life and community. The camp officially concluded with the Holy Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Zenon B. Ampong, DCD, and Rev. Fr. Perry Neil Patayon, offering thanksgiving for the graces and encounters experienced throughout the three-day journey.
A PILGRIMAGE THAT CONTINUES
SYC 2026 closed not as an end, but as a beginning. The youth departed not only as participants of a camp, but as pilgrims rooted in Christ, radiant in faith, and ready for mission.
In a world marked by division, uncertainty, and change, SYC 2026 affirmed a powerful truth: the youth are not the Church of tomorrow alone—they are the living Church today, called to witness Christ in their families, schools, communities, and digital spaces.
As they return to their daily lives, they carry with them one enduring mission—to remain rooted in Jesus, to shine with His light, and to build a world shaped by peace, love, and hope. (Reyluna Cordova | Photos: Immaculate Conception Parish Youth Apostolate)
