Ascension of the Lord Parish Celebrates 24th Parochial Fiesta, Launches Journey Toward Silver Jubilee

The Ascension of the Lord Parish in GSIS Heights, Matina, Davao City, celebrated its 24th Parochial Fiesta on May 17, 2026, bringing together clergy and parishioners in a joyful celebration of faith, thanksgiving, and community.

Anchored on the theme, “Gathered to Be Sent: 24 Years, Journeying Toward New Beginnings for Our 25th,” the occasion marked the official launch of the parish’s one-year preparation for its Silver Jubilee next year.

The festivities were highlighted by a Pontifical Mass presided over by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao. He was joined by concelebrating bishop Most Rev. George Rimando, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop of Davao.

Concelebrating the Holy Mass were Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Jose Junar dela Victoria, Parochial Vicar Rev. Fr. Francis Flores, and Resident Priest Rev. Fr. Leonie España. They were joined by guest priests Rev. Fr. Allan Rodriguez, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Calumpong, Rev. Fr. Randy Diamante, SDV, Rev. Fr. Cristopher Alcayde, and Rev. Fr. Ritzchild John Cariaga.

After the Pontifical Mass, the parishioners joyfully joined the Pista sa Nayon at the ALP Pastoral Gym, in which they shared a heartfelt meal and enjoyed the rest of the festivities.

During the celebration, parishioners reflected on this year’s theme, which emphasized gratitude for the past 24 years of blessings while preparing the community for new beginnings as the parish approaches its Silver Jubilee next year.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the official launching of the parish’s one-year preparation for its 25th Parochial Fiesta and Silver Jubilee celebration. The faithful also witnessed the presentation of the proposed sanctuary renovation design, symbolizing the parish’s continuing commitment to spiritual renewal and growth.
